Invisible girl strikes again...November 15 It's been eleven months...It's been eleven months since I wrote here... Here's a few things that I've been up to this year:
Hope that got you thinking. Liv xo December 26 Christmas TidingsHello Everyone!
Hope all things are going well in your stinking hot worlds... I'm currently sitting in my study and if i had a room thermometor - it would probably be over 40 degrees...! This will be short and sweet.
Firstly I'd like to say a big hi there and hello to Amador - love the new track buddy. Feeling VERY privileged. And yes - I'll support the "Buy Alby a new mike fund" so send on the bank details!
Well we finally have plans for the house. It's massive!! There's a theatre room, massive twin study, double sided fireplace, gourmet kitchen, two internal staircases, four bedroom plus one guestroom/library, three car garage and alfresco dining. Not to mention the designer pool. Ahhh... Queensland Living! Christmas is at our new house next year so if you're in the neighbourhood.. please drop in for a swim!
I sooo can't wait till we start picking tiles and carpets and colours. I think I have the theme done now, but it's still undecided. I'm thinking very earthy and natural tones, lots of oversized square tiles, timber columns, timber staircases, dark colours for the theatre, bold feature walls in deep brown, mustard and green, white-ish cream coloured fabric on the lounges, rugs in same feature colours, bamboo poles in an oversized urn in the entry, water feature out the front running over dark slate tiles... sounding good?
And now that the sweat is dripping off my arms and into the keyboard.. it's time to get back out in front of the fan.
I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas - and also farewell to Jade. I know we didn't make your farewell party today - but we wish you all the best in London. I hope Phil hasn't talked you out of going yet!
Love to all,
Liv November 10 Houses SchmousesTony (our fabulous broker) came round tonight and told us we can afford the house of our dreams!!
We've already got a 1/2 acre block of land (2000m2) and it's so pretty. Big enough to build a monster house with room for a pool and landscaping.. and a little to spare! The plans we're considering at the moment include a Clarendon Homes one from the Savannah range - the biggest one (http://www.clarendonhomes.com.au/ and click on Queensland), a bit of a plan from Plantation Homes (the Majestic) and an American one we stumbled over on houseplans.com. The features are pretty massive which are pretty important to us as we plan to do a bit of entertaining (ie big staircase, theatre room, gourmet kitchen, killer wardrobe in master, large outdoor entertaining area). And what with considering children in the next 12 - 18 months... we're gonna need all the room we can get!
And now that we've done our budget for the next few months, if anyone wants to take us out to dinner or movies - your treat! (Gosh I'm going to feel like a poor uni student again!)
On another note - Aunty Patty, Brittany and Ryan fly up to us this time next week!! Pretty close actually because they land around 10pm.. so we'd be leaving the house right about now (9pm). I love thinking about that sort of stuff. Like when we were little, I used to think... "The day after tomorrow is the day before Christmas Eve!" etc... Crazy I know.
Again .. on another note.. are tiles cheaper than floorboards? November 07 SaturdayI haven't updated this space in a few weeks... sorry peeps!
Here's the latest for the Clarks...
We bought a new big screen telly the other week, and decided on Saturday (just gone) that we'd head out to the Samsara warehouse at Milton and see what we could see. Found a spectacular unit - lowline with openings and drawers. Will probably be able to buy it soon - Adam worked all weekend so that'll pay for it!
Then after shopping we met up with my little sister at Jo Jo's - lovely lunch. There were no seats left on the balcony ... boo hoo hoo!!! Ahh well. Then Adam headed off to get some work done and Es and i went to the Regent Cinemas and saw Pride & Prejudice. I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!! Mr Darcy is my uh.. second soulmate! He's gorgeous, but you don't think so till the end of the film. He's got a beautiful smile
(Oh - that's the second time i've seen Pride & Prejudice now... I love it...)
Then after the movie and a little shopping Esther and I parted ways and I headed off to Adam's work. That was around 4-4:30pm. I thought it wouldn't take too long for him to finish off his work so I hung around. We left at 10:00pm... 10 AT NIGHT!!!!!!!! I suppose I would have been more frustrated if I:
a) hadn't still been in la-la land after seeing my favourite movie or
b) hadn't found some wicked necklace designs on the net (if you didn't already know I love making beaded necklaces)
So it was a long but good Saturday.
And now I'm eating a toasted cheese sandwich with a cappuccino. Does life get much better??? Oh - hang on - lunch break is over...
October 19 11 hour days and C# nightsWorking 5 days a week certainly has its challenges. At the moment Rebecca (my sidekick) is off on holidays for 2 weeks, and I'm kinda liking it. The kind of "like" where you're so deliriously busy that you think you're enjoying what you do. Until you work an 11 hour day like I did yesterday. I think that alone gave me the kick in the pants I need.
So I'm studying C#.. one of the computer techs here at work is studying an IT degree, and suggested I start with VB before I do C#... not many people read this blog so if the few of you who might possibly know about programming know whether I should take the risky move to VB - I'd appreciate the feedback! (at least I think the acronym was VB - don't ask me what it stands for..!)
So coming back to my kicked pants... last night I thought I'd study some more C# - seems logical when I need to get out of my current job. So I got home, ate dinner, watched some simpsons and then sat down at my computer. I don't know how, but falling asleep on an uncomfortable computer chair in front of a glary (read angry) little box of a monitor somehow came like second nature.
Ahhhhh well.
Oh - and while I think of it - Happy Birthday Gracie! Hope you have a fabulous and wonderfully silly day at school. We love you!
xoxo Cousin Liv October 08 Home ShowWe went to the yearly home show in town this morning. Adam and I have some pretty crazy ideas at the moment which need to be tamed about home automation and design systems etc... very cool stuff. For those of you who don't know, home automation is the sort of thing where your air con turns on, curtains open, lights dim, security turns on and music blares all at the flick of the lcd panel 'switch'. Ya gotta love technology that hides in a pretty little lcd panel. ... well ... I do.
Anyhoo we went to the Clipsal stand (more like a van really) and chatted to a very helpful chappy. Adam got happy. Went to the Genesys stand - funniest thing ever... Adam told them I was a developer!! Yeah, I'm reading thru the C# programmers guide to the galaxy - but it's only chapter 3 and i'm already a developer!?!?!
I almost laughed my ass off. Had to hold it in so the very serious genesys man didn't think we were too phony. You've gotta love it when you can go up to a stand at these places and tell gullible sales people anything you want. you could pretend to be a bloody astrophysicist and they wouldn't be able to tell the difference... unless THEY were reading the astrophysicists guide too... then you'd be up the proverbial creek.
So all in all a fairly productive day. We went out knowing little, and came back with 3kg's of brochures. Nice. More weekend reading.
Oh - and if anyone out there has brochures on more home automation stuff - pls feel free to send it along! There's one bit of cheeky carpet near the light switch that still needs to be covered. |
